Stage fright
-
I finally broke the seal on For All Mankind season 3. No spoilers, but: wow, they are not messing about. I love it so far and I’m impressed by how the show has steadily built up to some exciting stuff over the course of several years.
-
No movement on Obi-Wan Kenobi yet. I expect I’ll eventually watch the rest of it but it doesn’t feel very urgent.
-
I was lucky enough to get to see Billie Eilish at the O₂ last night. She gave a committed & energetic performance (presumably straight from Glastonbury?) and the production itself was spectacular.
-
Since last week’s ignominious dry run I’ve been making an effort to trim and reorganise the material for my talk.
I wasn’t anticipating feeling so nervous about speaking in front of a room of people. It used to be a completely routine part of my life, but it’s been so long since I last spoke that I fear I’ve lost my tolerance for stage fright.
I think the content’s in good shape at least, and tomorrow I’m going to run through it again with some of my teammates in person, so I’ll then be as prepared as I’m ever going to get.
-
I don’t know what to say or do about the Roe v. Wade situation in the US. At the moment it feels incredibly hopeless so I’m just sad and angry, but that isn’t going to help anyone or change anything. More dark times for humanity, I suppose.
-
It’s still really warm. Rather than wheel out the air conditioner and accept defeat, I moved a desk fan from the bedroom to the office so I could perch it precariously on the windowsill and have it blow warm air into my face. It’s better than nothing but I don’t know how long it’s going to cut it.

No Fridays off this year.
