Natural light
-
I’ve left my job. Time for something new.
-
I’m taking some time off before anything else. So far I’ve been sleeping, reading and watching a man methodically solve sudoku puzzles while he narrates his thought process in a soothing voice.
-
I met Emily for breakfast, had a call with Sandi and cooked dinner for Aleks & Reema, which for me is a lot of socialising, but I feel better for it.
-
The weather was nice on Thursday so I took myself for an east London bike ride and lunch at Black Cat. Over lunch I wrote a little parser, which was fun and therapeutic.
-
I didn’t have any expectations for Prey but it turned out to be really good: beautifully shot in (largely) natural light, excellent sound design, and overall just well-executed and fresh.
-
Homeland season four hasn’t got bad yet — it’s still Carrie & Saul, they’re still interesting — although it does feel like a different and perhaps slightly more generic show than before, so it could go either way.
-
Tomorrow I’m going to retry my ill-fated attempt to visit Paul in England’s frozen north. I did ultimately get my money back for last time, and the replacement tickets cost less than I originally paid, so I suppose that worked out.
-
Occasional bikes and trains aside, I almost certainly need more fresh air and exercise than I’m getting at the moment. It’s due to get very warm again in the next few days so the timing might not be ideal.

Reader feedback on eggs: for soft boiled it’s between 3 and 7 minutes depending on egg diameter (?); for hard boiled “just leave in for like ten minutes, who gives a shit”. 🥚
