Weeknotes 138
Fifty vegetables
-
This week’s priorities: doing nothing; getting a bit bored (contra my earlier claims); tinkering with code; worrying about the grimly-named “cost of living”.
-
I forgot to mention, for balance, that London has cooled down at last. It’s such a relief to open the window and feel fresh air.
-
My right arm is one big yellow bruise, but it’s healing.

Tuesday was local café breakfast with Russell again in the morning, then a Kings Cross pub with Computation Club & FutureLearn friends in the evening. Joseph asked whether I can name fifty vegetables. Can I?
-
On Friday I rode to Highbury for lunch with Emily. It was cool and bright through Shoreditch Park, onto the New North Road, over the canal, past Essex Road, up the hill. Then lazily south afterwards, through this beautiful city in the sunshine.

I’ve lived here for long enough that a big chunk of my adult life is threaded through the streets and pinned into place with memories. I can’t go anywhere without remembering the thing I did here or the person I met there or exactly why I was embarrassed that one time. When I first moved to London everywhere was pristine and semiotically neutral but now it’s all tangled up.
-
I can’t justify buying The Last of Us Part I at the moment, so I’m going to watch other people enjoy it instead and wait until it goes on sale.

Tomorrow’s the last bank holiday before Christmas.
