Weeknotes 222
Scenic route
-
Hello. 222 is a pleasing number isn’t it? It also means we’re a third of the way to weeknotes 666.

I’ve struggled to dispel the holiday brain fug and get back into the groove of work. It’s tempting to blame the truncated post-Easter workweek, although I did sleep for twelve hours on Thursday night after feeling grotty all day, so maybe I was just ill.
-
Unrelatedly, I rode the Thames Clipper from London Bridge to Battersea on Thursday. I’ve done this a few times and it’s always been very quiet. On this occasion it was not quiet because the schools have broken up and there were tons of tourists taking the scenic route.
-
Yesterday I caught a train — again at London Bridge — to visit Al & Adam. It’s fun to pop out of London occasionally, and then more fun to pop back again.

My foot is hurting less with each passing week. I’m enjoying cycling to work but I’m still not confident enough to go back to spending an hour on the treadmill at the gym.
The lack of regular exercise is really bad for me, and the loss of cardiovascular fitness is by far the worst part of this whole foot debacle. I know I should get over myself and ease back into the treadmill, or at least try a rowing machine or exercise bike or something. Maybe next week.

I pulled my finger out and asked Ember to replace my broken coaster, so now I can charge my stupid coffee cup again. This is the second time they’ve done it for free, neatly matching last time’s four-month period from breakage to replacement.
I suppose it’s good service but I don’t understand how their business model is sustainable. Maybe this approach is simply much cheaper than making a reliable product in the first place.

There’s, like, a 50% chance that I’ve already messed up my ISA for this year. I won’t know until I can have a conversation with my bank during business hours.

Some weeks you got nothin’.
