Weeknotes 250
Ground truth
-
Wow, week 250‽ Oh, wait, never mind.
-
It’s raining.

We have one week of British Summer Time and two weeks of Pacific Daylight Time remaining. I had to refer to last year to remind myself what the hell is happening with the timings of all my meetings. And so that means: tomstu.art/daylight.

Last October I said…
I decided to look up the answer and burn it into my brain once and for all
…so it’s a shame that didn’t happen. At least it’s an excellent demonstration of modern life’s ground truth: you don’t need a brain when you’ve got an internet.

I don’t have anything to report this week. Work’s still consuming all available energy which means I’m mainly just tired with nothing interesting to say.
-
The bread came out really well. I found the process meditative & therapeutic and the two business loaves exceeded the expectations of stakeholders. I’d like to start baking more now that the weather’s colder.

On Friday I decided to treat myself by popping out to Mr Bingo’s nearby shop to buy a print I liked. I was the only one there when the shop opened and the print went on sale that day, so I unintentionally ended up buying #1 of the edition as well as having a nice chat with the artist. Simple.

I started watching MaXXXine and thought the first ten minutes were great, but then the broadband conked out so I gave up. I’ll try again tonight and hope that the start isn’t the only good bit.

GIT SHOW: I’ve switched to
git rebase
’smerge
backend so that, as of v2.44, I can use--autosquash
for non-interactive rebases. I like it so far and I haven’t had any problems, although I do wish there was a configuration option to always enable--autosquash
regardless of whether the rebase is interactive. -
Since February I’ve been meaning to train myself to use
git replay
but I haven’t succeeded yet. This is annoying because I’m constantly switching onto branches just to rebase them, and that’s exactly whatgit replay | git update-ref --stdin
is for.I now rely completely upon
rebase --update-refs
and I assumereplay
could be similarly life-changing if only I could drum it into my muscle memory. Maybe I need an alias. -
That’s it.
