Weeknotes 275
Unusual intensity
-
I didn’t puke at all this week, which was brilliant.
-
I’m feeling much better. It’s taken until today to return to full health, slowly easing back into eating normally and trying to shake a persistent cough. Last night I slept properly for the first time and it really helped.
-
No gym yet, mainly because of my chaotic sleep schedule. I intend to get back into the habit next week so I don’t lose all the momentum of the last couple of months.
-
On Monday I had a pleasant walking meeting starting at Covent Garden — utterly deserted at 9am! — and ambling along Victoria Embankment in the sunshine before heading through Bank to Bishopsgate. Days like this make me feel very fortunate to live in London.
-
It was a work week of unusual intensity because I went to the office every day and had many more in-person conversations than normal, on top of which my head’s still spinning from catching up after the holiday & illness. Hopefully things will settle down for a bit now.
-
Tyler came round after work on Wednesday and we had a good Vietnamese takeaway from a local vegan place. Our tenuous plan to watch a film afterwards didn’t survive contact with the reality of how long we spent eating and chatting.
Last weekend’s spring clean meant that I felt a little less embarrassed than usual about the state of my flat. Now that I’ve lived there for almost a decade, maybe I should think about making it actually nice?
-
I was happy that Astro Bot and Neva both deservedly won BAFTAs. So did Still Wakes the Deep, which I’d like to revisit even though motion sickness made me bail out of my playthrough. If it has a good bit then I haven’t got to it yet.
-
Blue Prince has had excellent reviews but I’m going to be an adult and resist the temptation to buy it. I learned my lesson about roguelikes from Returnal and I know in my heart that I won’t benefit from further antagonising myself. I’ll probably watch the Cracking The Cryptic men stream it next week and leave it at that.
-
I was waiting until the third season of White Lotus had finished before I started watching it, but the reviews have been bad enough that I might just give it a miss.
-
I’m really looking forward to the four day weekend.
