Extra dose
-
The real rain, and real cool, continues. When I stepped outside on 1 September it even felt a tiny bit autumnal. Bring it on. 🍂

Three gyms, including the bank holiday, which required an extra dose of determination but didn’t provide any more benefit than usual. Weight still not ideal; it’ll have to wait.
-
Very busy still, thus not much to report. Just need to get through the month.

For the first time ever I tried to claim Delay Repay for a cancelled train and consequent missed connection last weekend, but of course it was a waste of time due to the multiple train companies involved. Perhaps it’s my fault for trying to claim compensation from the operator which sold me the ticket, but I have zero interest in navigating this intentionally arcane system for the sake of a few quid, so I’ll instead use it for its intended purpose by giving up and absorbing the costs myself.

Succession: Living+, Tailgate Party, America Decides (no memory at all of this one), Church and State and With Open Eyes. That’s it! These final episodes lean more into drama and politics at the expense of comedy, so there’s not much classic material there, but it’s extremely well written & performed so I have no complaints. Kieran Culkin probably edges out the other sibs with the emotional complexity of his performance towards the end; still, giving all three the opportunity to finally, briefly be family (“meal fit for a king”) is cathartic.
It’s a brilliant show which, like The Thick of It, I get more out of on each successive rewatch. I’m already looking forward to seeing it all again before too long. (4K UHD when?)

I tried watching Pillion but gave up. If you’ve always been curious what it would look like if Lukas Matsson boffed pound shop Mickey Flanagan then it might be your cup of tea, but I haven’t and it wasn’t.
