Running on fumes, so you get what you get.

Bit dark out. For the first time since spring it rained enough that cycling to the office gave me a wet bum.

Three gyms. A woman with no headphones watching reality TV arguments on her phone for an hour.

A long, busy, fractious week at work. I’ve still got loads to do for the rest of September but we’re almost halfway through the month already so I just need to power through. Most days I largely succeed at not losing my rag so that’s good.

I saw Obsession and really liked it. It’s simple, effective and nightmarish in a way that reminds me of (the also excellent) It Follows, plus it definitely doesn’t look like it only cost $750k. Pretty impressive.

I watched the first three episodes of Ludwig because I like puzzles, Cambridge and in principle David Mitchell.

It’s cosy enough and does make me a little nostalgic for that town and the life I had there. I enjoyed seeing Lyudmilla from Star City and Whitaker from The Pitt and some sudoku from men doing sudoku. Unfortunately by the third episode the overarching conceit was starting to feel a bit flimsy so, barring a major structural twist, I don’t know whether it’ll hold up much longer. I also don’t get the impression David Mitchell is exactly stretching himself in the role, but again, that has the potential to change in an obvious way if they want it to.

I hope we’ve all already enjoyed that Nathan Fielder trailer. I can’t wait.

I keep trying to play Donkey Kong Bananza but, despite being perfectly pleasant, it just doesn’t grab me at all for some reason. I thought it’d pay off if I stuck with it but I’m losing hope there’ll ever be a level which consists of anything other than punching terrain. I found myself thinking “maybe there’ll be a 2D bit???” which is indicative of how desperate for variety my brain was getting.
