I’m feeling a bit better this week! Adrift but otherwise fine.

By looking out the window I can see that it’s a lovely day today: cloudless blue sky, sunshine, gentle breeze. I want to go outside as an abstract goal but don’t have any ideas about where to go or why. I just opened the window instead.

Since I started exercising again a few weeks ago I’ve done a pretty good job of sticking to the daily rhythm of it. The biggest threat to my routine is delayed onset muscle soreness which has been pretty intense and off-putting at times.
A quick search suggested that I could reduce the pain with a device called a “massage gun” which sounded a bit “tactical grip on my man soap” but turned out to be an entire class of product I was unaware of. I bought one and I think it’s helping; either way, there’s less pain now and that’s all that matters. Thanks massage gun!

I’m enjoying the new series of Frankie Boyle’s New World Order. It’s a bit weird and bleak without a studio audience but in many ways that suits the tone: as he says in episode 1, “this is pretty much the society that the earlier series of this show predicted”.

September has seen the arrival of a man who stands on the pavement outside my flat and plays the tambourine for hours at a time. The sound of it is literal torture.
Might close the window.
