Six out of ten

I’ve spent a lifetime ignoring the snooze buttons on alarms because I never want to use them. They’re an annoying UI hindrance which I’ve learned to blank out of my awareness entirely so I don’t press them by mistake.
But I finally noticed that the cursed button in the Apple Watch timer interface doesn’t say “snooze” at all, it says “repeat”. Repeat! So now when I’m making bread I can hit the repeat button after every stretch & fold instead of muttering “hey Siri, thirty minute timer” over and over again.
I don’t think there’s a useful moral to this story, except maybe don’t put useless mandatory buttons in interfaces for decades if you want users to pay attention.

The shoulder pain continues. It’s low-level pain most of the time but that’s enough to keep me on edge and make it difficult to fully relax. It’s also stopping me from sleeping particularly well, which has a knock-on effect on the rest of my day and makes me a bit grumpy and unfocused.
Basically I’m not fantastic company at the moment and I’m not getting as much done as I’d like. Annoying. I took Monday off work and went to a proper physio and I think it’s been slowly getting better since then. 🤞

I had a cryptic email from a parcel company which implies they’ll be delivering a treadmill at some unknown point, but I’ve no idea whether it’ll be fixed, replaced or still broken. I expect the lack of exercise is exacerbating my shoulder problem so I hope this all gets sorted out soon and I can get back to normal.

We watched more of The Leftovers and I’m still really enjoying it. The season one finale was a bit of a letdown but the start of the next season was so audaciously disorienting that it sucked me right back in. Towards the end of season two it’s gone a bit Lost, which worries me slightly because Lost turned out to be all mystery and no resolution, but so far I’m optimistic they’ll be able to keep it on the rails.
In fact it’s been obvious since the beginning that this show isn’t interested in explaining its central weird event, only exploring the effect on the lives of its characters, so I’m okay with it leaving big parts of the story ambiguous. As usual it’s the excellent performances that pull the whole thing together and make it interesting enough to stick with.
So: less vague than Lost, more vague than Watchmen. Six out of ten Lindelofs.

Since writing my topical numerology content I learned about the upcoming 2’s day next February. Let’s start planning the celebrations now so we don’t get caught short again.

I feel like I need a holiday, but I don’t know from what or to where.
