Inciting event
-
Hello! Busy at work, with not much else to report after last weekend’s exertions.
-
Another three gym visits. Making a tiny bit of progress again.

Last night I cycled back to Roz & James’s place for a games night with them and Murray. I of course don’t know how to play any games and needed the dreaded rules dump, but after that we played Catan (I came last) and Gloom (I came first) which were both fun. I don’t think any amount of practice would give me a sense of how to make even basic strategic decisions in either game but that’s not the point is it.
I got to drink an alcohol-free Erdinger and was surprised how much it tastes like the real thing. And then, because I wasn’t drunk, I rode home at midnight which I haven’t done in a long time. London was cool and peaceful and I felt free.

Episode six of The Last of Us was perilously dad-heavy but otherwise a very good adaptation of some important moments. I really liked the addition of the inciting event which pushes ██ over the edge with ██; it’s emotionally plausible, builds upon what we already know about the characters, and generally worked much better on TV than the game’s version would have.
I was surprised to see ██ ██ ██████ moved so far up in the story, but I can understand how the ████ is necessary before this season finishes.
It’s now surely inevitable how the season will end: Ellie’s ███ ██ ██, finishing at the ██████ ██ ██, thereby leaving all of ███ ███ ████ for the next season? So I guessed wrongly; we haven’t seen ██ █ ███ at all yet, which has allowed the story to progress further than I was expecting.
I suppose this is much closer to how it works in the game so I shouldn’t be surprised. I’d just assumed it would have to change more than it did. (In hindsight, isn’t it a bit strange that ███ ███ is ███ █ █?)

That’s it. Bank holiday tomorrow! I need it.
